The Ohio Casino Control Commission says three of Ohio's four casinos lost money in February as compared with the same month a year ago. Brian Bull of member station WCPN in Cleveland reports.
Cleveland’s casino made just over 20-million last month, compared to 17-point-5 million for February 2014.
For casinos in Toledo, Columbus, and Cincinnati, the monthly revenue figures were all down from the year before. The drops range from 30-thousand to about 1-million dollars.
Overall, the four, voter-approved casinos raked in about 67 million dollars last month. That was up just slightly over the same period last year.
The state collects about one-third of the revenues in taxes and distributes the money to counties, school districts, host cities and other entities.
Critics say the casinos have failed to deliver on original promises made when voters approved them in 2009. Backers say the money still helps municipalities cover important expenses and improvements, even if short of original projections.
