State Schools Panel Must Pay Contractor For Delaying Work On Two Local Buildings

The Ohio School Facilities Commission and an architect will pay a contractor 2 million dollars to settle breach of contract claims stemming from the construction of dormitories at the Ohio State School for the Blind and the Ohio School for the Deaf. A judge approved the settlement after a referee ruled in favor of TransAmerica Building Company, which  claimed the commission caused delays and more work beyond the scope of its contract. The referee says the state agency dragged out the 44 million dollar project due to "politics and budgeting problems."
