State Seeks To Prevent Falls By Older Ohioans

Officials are drawing attention to the potential hazards of falling for older Ohioans as a state effort marks its anniversary.

STEADY U Ohio is a falls prevention initiative led by the Ohio Department of Aging. According to the state agency, falls are the number one cause of injuries leading to emergency room visits, hospital stays and fatalities in Ohioans age 65 and over. To raise awareness of the issue, the state is providing tool kits with basic information about falls, conversation starters and balance assessment tests.
