Tens of thousands of unemployed Ohioans are continuing to receive overpayments in their monthly government benefit checks. That’s the word from officials at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Spokesman Ben Johnson says the number of overpayments last year was smaller than in the two previous years, but still, there are many cases. Johnson explains the latest numbers in this conversation with statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen.
Johnson stresses that officials have been cutting down the number of people receiving overpayments in their unemployment compensation checks. In the year 2010, he says there were 150,000 overpayments, but last year the number was trimmed to 110,000.
