Study Shows Child Opioid Poisoning Calls Declining

The number of American children exposed to opioids is declining.  A study conducted by the Central Ohio Poison Center in Columbus shows one call about opioid exposure was made every 45 minutes to centers across the country.  Over 188-thousand calls were made between January 2000 and December 2015. Children under the age of five had the most exposures followed by teenagers.  Researchers have seen an increase in children using medications designed to treat individuals addicted to opioids.
