Study Shows Increase In High Chair Injuries

High chairs and booster seats are used by many parents and caregivers to feed their kids, but new research finds an increase in related injuries. A study from the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Children's Hospital in Columbus analyzed 8 years worth of high chair injuries involving kids age three years and younger. Doctor Gary Smith directs the center.

Smith notes many parents assume the seat's tray will keep the child inside, but he stresses the trays are not designed to keep kids restrained. Smith encourages parents to supervise children during mealtime, and check for recalls. He says millions of unsafe high chairs have been recalled over the last few years.
