Dwyer says Ohio libraries are offering programs to keep kids reading during the summer months. She says parents should allow a child who reluctant to read to choose books on topics of interest to that child.

Dwyer says a recent survey of one-thousand parents found one in three read with their child daily, and half said their children spend more time with TV or video games.
