The Ohio Supreme Court has ruled a proposal aimed at controlling prescription drug prices lacks enough valid petition signatures to get onto the ballot. The justices say 10 thousand signatures submitted by supporters of the Drug Price Relief Act were erroneously validated, and backers have until August 25 to collect more than 5 thousand signatures. Opponents including the Ohio Manufacturers' Association and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America had challenged the signatures. The proposal aims to keep state entities from buying drugs at prices higher than what the federal government pays. The California-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation has formed a group to push for passage of the measure.
