SUPCO Suspends Law License Of Former Judge Convicted Of Corruption

cleveland.com

The Ohio Supreme Court has indefinitely suspended the law license of a former Cuyahoga County judge convicted of lying to FBI agents. A federal jury convicted Bridget McCafferty in August 2011 on 10 counts of making false statements concerning FBI-recorded telephone conversations she had with then-county auditor Frank Russo and a local businessman about cases in her courtroom. A judge sentenced her to 14 months in prison. The justices in the minority favored disbarment, citing her behavior and relationships with Russo and former county commissioner Jimmy Dimora, who is also the former chair of the county Democratic Party. Both men received long prison sentences for their roles in corruption schemes.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
