Survey: Charter School Operators Need More Money

Leaders of top-ranking charter schools say more money is needed to pay for teachers and facilities in order for them to thrive. A survey by the nonprofit charter school sponsor and supporter the Thomas B. Fordham Institute shows charter leaders support closing failing  schools faster and making it easier to open new and successful ones. The survey is designed to guide the sector through a series of recent challenges. School Choice Director David Hansen resigned after omitting certain failing grades from sponsor evaluations. Also last year, lawmakers passed tougher standards.
