SW Ohio School Rehearses Response To Active Shooter

A suburban school district and township authorities in southwest Ohio Wednesday rehearsed a response to the nightmare scenario of a shooter on campus.

Lakota Schools and the West Chester police and fire departments collaborated on the hours-long exercise Wednesday with the help of some 200 school and community volunteers.  Student actors rushed out of the school screaming, with the sound of blank ammunition gunfire echoing behind them.  The elementary school's real students are out for the summer. Residents were advised in advance not to be alarmed by emergency vehicles at the school for the exercise. A student at nearby Madison Schools opened fire with a handgun in a school cafeteria Feb. 29, injuring four students, none fatally.
