Thousands Of Fish Killed By Chemicals Spilled Into Raccoon Creek Following Tanker Crash

Newark Advocate

Ohio Division of Wildlife officials say nearly 64 hundred fish were killed when a tractor-trailer carrying hazardous materials crashed through a bridge guardrail on Cherry Valley Road and into Raccoon Creek in Newark on November 3. The driver lost control of the truck carrying phosphoric and sulfuric acids. Some of the fluids and the truck's diesel fuel leaked into the waterway. No other animals were killed as a result of the crash.
