The U.S. Marshals Service has given Ashland County residents its Citizen of the Year award for their tips that led to the arrest of the suspected killer of a young mother.

Authorities arrested Nate Summerfield for the slaying of his estranged girlfriend, Lynn Jackenheimer, while the couple was vacationing in North Carolina last year. Elliot says tips from the public led U.S. Marshals to a Medina County hotel, where Summerfield was arrested. Jackenheimer's mother is Lora Johnson, who is also thanking Ashland County residents.
Summerfield is being held in a North Carolina jail awaiting the start of his murder trial.
