Tractor-Trailer Driver Dies In Fiery Ohio Ambulance Crash

Ohio Highway Patrol troopers a tractor-trailer struck an ambulance that had responded to a rollover crash in Mifflin, and the truck driver died after his rig burst into flames.

Troopers say the ambulance had its overhead lights activated and was stopped along westbound U.S. Route 30 when it was hit late Sunday morning. Troopers say the truck then swerved across the road, veered off the other side into a wooded area and caught fire.  Mifflin police Captain Ray Scott says he and another person tried to rescue the driver but couldn't after the fuel tank exploded. The patrol says the crash killed 52-year-old Anthony Fuerst of Columbus Grove. Two emergency medical technicians were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
