Treasure Hunting Company Must Keep Deal With Marketing Firm

USA Today

A state appeals court says investors in a treasure hunting company that searched for gold from a historic shipwreck must keep their deal with the business contracted to market and sell the treasure.  At issue is a contract that investors made with California Gold Marketing Group in 1998 to market and sell what was recovered from the 1857 wreck of the S.S. Central America. The 10th Ohio District Court of Appeals has overturned a judge's decision allowing a court-appointed receiver to cancel the contract. 62-year-old Tommy Thompson of Columbus, who led the expedition, is in a Florida jail.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
