Troubles Found At Ohio Prison

Mar 1, 2013

The Dayton Daily News reports a surprise inspection conducted by state legislators and staffers in January at the privately-operated Lake Erie Correctional Institution in Conneaut found rampant criminal activity inside.

Inspectors also found several safety and security problems. The operator of the prison, Corrections Corporation of America, says security upgrades and a crackdown on prison gangs have made the lockup safer. Ohio sold the 18-hundred inmate prison in January of last year.
