Update: Chardon H.S. Shooter Captured Following His Escape From Prison

Columbus police say Clifford Opperud has been taken into custody. The original story is below.The State Highway Patrol has recaptured the Chardon High School shooter who escaped from the Allen Correctional Instutition near Lima last night. 19-year-old T.J. Lane, and inmates Lindsey Bruce and Clifford Opperud escaped. Opperud remains at-large. Chardon Schools Superintendent Michael Hanlon thanked law enforcement for their work.

Hanlon has canceled classes today and is offering students counseling.  Prisons officials are not saying how the trio escaped, but say administrative and criminal investigations are underway. Lane was convicted of killing three high school students in February 2012. Bruce is serving a life sentence for killing 5-year-old Emily Rimel in 2004.
