U.S. Jobless Claims Rise, Ohio Jobless Claims Decline
The Labor Department says first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits rose again last week.
343 thousand Americans filed claims last week, 7 thousand more than the previous week's adjusted number. The biggest increases were in Georgia, California, Texas, Alabama, and Tennessee. The steepest declines were in Michigan, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Kentucky. The department says Ohio claims fell by 25 hundred due to fewer layoffs in manufacturing.
