Nasty winter weather is often hard on roadways, and the deteriorating pavement can cause damage to cars. Daniel Borchart, the interim clerk with the Court of Claims, says there's something motorists may pursue if their cars are damaged on state-owned roads. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, Borchart explains the process.
Borchart says he decides more than 500 cases per year under $10,000 but not just those involving potholes. He says there are cases from prisoners, lawsuits against universities, complaints against state parks and more. Forms to file for damages can be found at the state's Court of Claims website.
