Vermillion Cop Fired For Wearing Pro Pot Button, Driving Under Suspension Won't Get Reinstated

chronicle.northcoastnow.com

The former Vermilion police captain who was fired after wearing a pro-marijuana pin on his uniform won't get his job back. The city's Civil Service Commission upheld Michael Reinheimer's firing after he failed to refute the allegations. Reinheimer was fired last year for violating several police department policies for wearing the pin in support of State Issue One, which was defeated last November. He supported legal marijuana because he says his wife has epilepsy and he read that marijuana can be effective in preventing seizures when prescription medication fails to work. Reinheimer has said if he is not reinstated, he will file a lawsuit. He was also fired for driving under suspension last year.
