Kent State University will open a visitors center on Saturday that chronicles the campus shootings of 1970.
The Ohio National Guard opened fire on students protesting the Vietnam War in May of that year. Four students were killed and nine others were wounded. The 19-hundred square-foot center includes three galleries that cover the social movements of the 1960s, the Vietnam War and the shootings. The 1.1 million dollar center on the first floor of Taylor Hall took five years to complete.
