Waters Applies For Old Job

artsandsciences.osu.edu

A federal district judge has scheduled a March 5 hearing in Columbus to consider Ohio State University's request that former marching band director Jon Waters' wrongful termination lawsuit be dismissed. Waters sued for reinstatement last year, accusing the university, President Michael Drake and a provost of discriminating against him by disciplining him differently than a female employee and denying him due process. The university says Waters was an at-will employee who could be fired for any reason and he cannot validly argue gender discrimination as a member of the male majority. The university dismissed Waters last summer for  repeatedly concealing a "sexualized" band culture from outsiders and misleading university officials. Meanwhile, Waters this week filled out an application to get his old job back.
