Weekly Claims For Jobless Benefits Decline

The Labor Department says first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits in Ohio fell by more than 11 hundred last week, due to fewer layoffs in manufacturing. Ohio had the tenth largest decline out of the 50 states. The department says the total number of claims in the U.S. fell by 10 thousand last week to a seasonally adjusted 340 thousand. Applications are now close to the pre-recession levels that were reached in August.
