The Labor Department says the number of weekly applications for unemployment insurance benefits in Ohio fell by 21-hundred last week.
Nationally, applications fell by 5-thousand to a seasonally-adjusted 330-thousand. That is the lowest level in five years. The decline may reflect the department's difficulty adjusting the numbers to account for post-holiday season layoffs, which spike in the second week of January and then plummet.
