Who Is Backing The Ohio Clean Energy Initiative?

A strategist for a clean-energy initiative headed toward the statewide ballot says it's a nonpartisan measure driven by a group of concerned Ohio citizens. If approved, the Ohio Clean Energy Initiative would require 1.3 billion dollars in annual investments over a decade in infrastructure, research and development related to solar, wind and other energy sources. A private Delaware-based entity called Ohio Energy Initiative Commission would pick eligible projects. Media strategist German Trejo tells the Associated Press the commission's corporate structure makes it free of political influence. Trejo has declined to identify those involved in the corporation. The corporation would receive 65 million dollars a year in operational expenses under the ballot proposal.
