Wittenberg University Names Interim President

Wittenberg University in Springfield has appointed an interim president. Dick Helton takes over on January 11 for a year to 18 months while school officials search for permanent leader.  Former President Laurie Joyner resigned in November shortly after announcing 6.5 million dollars in budget cuts. Those included elimination of retiree health benefits, employee health benefits and a review of academic programs that could lead to job cuts. Helton was president of Vincennes University in Indiana from 2004 to 2015.
