A woman wanted on charges she pretended to be the abused wife of a Pittsburgh police officer so she could live at a battered women's shelter is now facing charges and is jailed in Ashland, Ohio for allegedly doing the same thing there.
But this time she claimed her abuser was a Columbus police officer. Authorities say in both cases, the officers did not exist and the abuse did not happen. Shelter officials in both states learned that only after 33-year-old Amy Slanina spent weeks getting free food and shelter. She failed to appear in court for her trial.
