W.W. II vet gets Purple Heart decades after serving

A World War Two veteran living in Beachwood Ohio has received the Purple Heart medal he earned in combat.  Donald Arnold received the medal Monday, 67 years after he was wounded while liberating France.

Arnold says the paperwork for the medal was only completed after his family pushed for the award.  Arnold also received the Bronze Star and Silver Star he lost after the war.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
