Youth Prison In Delaware Will Close Next Year

The Ohio Department of Youth Services says it will close the Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility in Delaware by May of next year.

The department says the number of incarcerated juveniles has dropped by 23 percent in the past two years thanks to efforts to treat more offenders in community settings.  The 247 employees at the facility will be offered other jobs within the department. The closing leaves the state with three juvenile detention facilities in operation.
