Beck's Long Balancing Act

Beck was recording his latest album when he encountered an unexpected hazard in the studio.

"I got bit by a black widow in the middle of this recording session," he says laughing. "I was in the hospital, and my arm was all swollen up."

That was only one of the indignities Beck suffered on the way to Morning Phase.

Columbus' own Lydia Loveless just released her brand new CD Somewhere Else on Chicago's Bloodshot Records!  

The eight-member outfit San Fermin will bring their Baroque Pop/Indie sounds to the WCBE studios to play a few songs during the Global Village!

Coming up on Saturday Feb. 22, 2014 Capitol Square Rotary Club will host the ninth annual Music In The Round event benefiting the Rafiki AIDS Orphanage School of Muziki. 

Oklahoma City's Graham Colton will drop by WCBE and the Global Village to play a few songs for us before his show that night at The Basement

This year WCBE's music in the round preview will feature Jonathan Vernon, Joe Peppercorn, Erika Hughes and Jessica Wabbit.

All will play one song in studio a, preceding the Music In The Round event at Via Vecchia Winery at 6pm on Saturday February 22.

Finally this hour, a new perspective on the enduring influence of The Beatles. It comes from another four-piece British rock band called Temples. The group is from the town of Kettering. Critics have been raving about them since last summer. Their debut album, "Sun Structures," has now been released here in the U.S. And hearing it might whisk you away to 1960s Liverpool. Here's our critic, Tom Moon.
