The Global Village

The progressive bluegrass outfit the Punch Brothers will perform live during the Global Village ahead of their show that night at The Southern Theatre with Anais Mitchell. 

After nearly 30 years of prolific genre-avoidance, the indie-rock trio Yo La Tengo returns with Fade, its first studio album in almost four years. The record, the band's 13th full-length release, features "Before We Run," a six-minute piece of orchestral pop showcasing Yo La Tengo's stately side.

Micah Schnabel and Shane Sweeney of the local band Two Cow Garage will join us live during the Global Village in the 2PM hour.

James Hunter has spent his life learning how to tell soul's stories in fresh and personal ways. Born in 1962 in Essex, England and mentored early on by Van Morrison, he embarked on a career with many ups and downs before breaking through in America in his forties. Now the Grammy-nominated Hunter has made his first album in the States, where the music he loves was born.

This is just about the most surprising album in recent memory, and a complete joy. The singer for Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry has also enjoyed a long solo career, both as an interpreter of songs by others — Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, Sam Cooke, Cole Porter, Lou Reed and many more — and as an extraordinary songwriter who's released 13 solo albums, each with its own strengths.

New Orleans' Dash Rip Rock will perform a few songs live during the Global Village! 

Brown Bird aka David Lamb and MorganEve Swain will play a few songs live during the Global Village ahead of their show that night at The Rumba Cafe with Joe Fletcher.

Griffin will be stopping by studio a during the 11am hour to share his music, and his memories of growing up in Ohio. Currently touring all over the country, he will be performing at the basement later that evening. He's released several cds since his first, which was recorded in only five days.
