Alleged Veterans Charity Scammer Found Guilty

Nov 15, 2013

A Cuayhoga County jury has convicted the man charged in a 100 million dollar, cross-country veterans charity fraud case.

Leading Ohio Republicans including U.S. House Speaker John Boehner and the state attorney general have been subpoenaed to testify in a $100 million multi-state fraud case.

The Democrat who wants to be Ohio’s next Attorney General says the state’s current A-G should recuse himself from a case that involves a man accused of bilking millions of dollars that was meant to help veterans. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports.

The Ohio attorney general's multi-state case against an alleged scam artist who collected as much as $100 million ostensibly for Navy veterans doesn't address the man's donations to politicians, including the attorney general himself.

Federal Marshals in Ohio say a former fugitive suspected of running a 100 million dollar cross-country scam collecting donations for Navy veterans is in fact a Harvard-trained attorney.
