On this edition of Teacher Talk, host Sue Misiak welcomes the newly-elected team of Tracey Johnson and Phil Hayes to their first Teacher Talk interview as President and vice-president of the CEA. We will learn more about them, their leadership styles, and the issues they plan to tackle as Rhonda Johnson retires and Tracey and Phil take office.

CEA President Rhonda Johnson joins host Sue Misiak on Teacher Talk. She is retiring at the end of this school year and will then become Mayor Michael Coleman's Education Director. In her last appearance on Teacher Talk as CEA President, we're going to look at Rhonda's career as an education advocate and as a cheerleader for all those teachers who are dedicated to helping children.  

On this edition of Teacher Talk, host Sue Misiak speaks with Mark Real, President of KidsOhio.org. an online resource center for policy makers, educators, parents and community groups interested in improving education in Ohio. They'll discuss the defeat of the levy and what that means to the Columbus City School District, the role of charter schools and their impact, and  Mayor Coleman’s appointment of Rhonda Johnson as Education Czar.

On this broadcast we’re going to learn about Triad 21. Through this program, COSI, The Columbus Museum of Art, and The Ohio Historical Society are providing professional development to help local teachers impact students’ 21st century learning.

On our last program, we learned about City Year which strives to change attitudes and help those students who may be at-risk for dropping out of school. We're going to continue the conversation as we look specifically at the City Year program at Linden McKinley STEM Academy and talk with a corps member and a student.

The slogan for City Year is - Give a Year, Change the World. That's a pretty ambitious goal and Executive Director of City Year, Todd Tuney, will explain how they intend to achieve it - right here in the Columbus City School.

NPR Digital Services' development team is currently investigating and working to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We will provide an update as soon as our webstream service is restored.

On today's program, we consider the impact of sustainable, green buildings and how they influence teaching and learning. The guest today are Tyler Steel, President of the U.S. Green Building Council, Center Ohio Chapter. 

In the 21st century classroom, learning and technology go hand in hand. On this program, host Sue Misiak talks with Cindy Wright and 2 other Columbus City School teachers about an iPad project that is changing the way teachers teach and the way students learn.

Host Sue Misiak speaks with the Program Director of Mosaic, Steve Shapiro and two of his students. We discuss Mosaic, a unique program which provides a humanities-based education experience beyond the classes at their home school. It is sponsored by the Education Council.

I Know I Can's Blueprint College Program helps parents plan for their child's college education. Executive Director Katina Fullen explains that volunteers conduct workshops and provide resources to aid Columbus families.
