The City of Columbus is leasing 56-acres of the Scioto Peninsula to the Riversouth Authority to continue years worth of redevelopment work in the area.


Franklin County officials say the demolition of Veterans Memorial in downtown Columbus will take several months longer than expected, delaying the construction of a statewide memorial planned for the site.

Franklin County Commissioners today approved a deal to raze Veterans Memorial downtown, despite calls from local vets and the facility's board to renovate the structure.

Columbus and Franklin County officials have unveiled some major plans for the downtown 56-acre site west of the river near COSI.

Earlier this year, Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman pledged 18-million city dollars toward removing the Main Street dam and developing the acres of  land along the Scioto river downtown that would be created by the structure's removal.
