US Justice Department May Join Challenge To Ohio Voting Laws

Jul 15, 2014

The U.S. Justice Department may be joining other groups who have gone to court to challenge changes in Ohio’s voting laws.  M.L. Schultze of member station WKSU in Kent reports.

House Republican leaders say they want the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate the Internal Revenue Service over the way agents scrutinized applications by tea party groups for tax exempt status.

Democratic State Representative Alicia Reece and Cincinnati community leaders are asking U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to send federal election monitors to Ohio in November to protect voter rights.
