The Centers for Disease Control says over one thousand Americans were diagnosed with mumps this year. 

With the recent breakout of measles and mumps, medical groups in Ohio are ramping up efforts to encourage immunizations.

Local Mumps Cases Now Exceed 420

Columbus Public Health officials say 427 cases of mumps have now been confirmed in the outbreak that started at Ohio State University.

About 80 more measles cases have been confirmed over the past week, bringing the total for an Ohio outbreak to about 240 cases across six counties. 

Public health officials say a mumps outbreak in central Ohio has reached 404 cases across three counties. Columbus health officials updated the running total of cases, with 220 of those linked to Ohio State University. 

Health officials say vaccinations for mumps are not a guarantee of protection after two Worthington Kilbourne High School students and a teacher caught the virus despite being vaccinated.

Columbus Public health officials say 366 cases of mumps have now been confirmed in an outbreak that started at Ohio State University.

Ohio health officials have distributed nearly 12-thousand doses of vaccines to try to stem recent outbreaks of measles and mumps in the state. 

Health officials say the Mumps outbreak that started at Ohio State University may have spread to the Hilliard schools.

Health officials have now confirmed 328 cases of mumps in the outbreak that started at Ohio State University.

Health officials tracking measles and mumps outbreaks in Ohio are urging residents to stay up-to-date on immunizations to prevent illnesses from spreading.
