Minority Democrats in the Ohio House say key public promises made by Governor John Kasich are absent from a bill authorizing the sale of 1.5 billion dollars in Ohio Turnpike bonds to fund highway projects.
Ohio Governor John Kasich had ordered five million new dollars be spent helping families with a mentally-ill child who could turn violent. Kasich says officials were working on the idea for the extra intervention and counseling before the Connecticut school shootings put the spotlight on ways to prevent violence.
Mental health officials say the money could help pay for emergency treatment for mentally-ill children who have been threatening. Or it could help parents get a temporary break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a troubled child.
