War of 1812

The monument commemorating a key victory for the United States in the War of 1812 has reopened on  South Bass Island in Lake Erie

The U.S. Senate has adopted a resolution recognizing the significant victory of the Americans in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812.

It was 200 years ago that the War of 1812 broke out and since Ohio was in the thick of the conflict, the state today launched a year long commemoration of the event. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen was on-hand for the ceremony in the capital building.
